C-RIB 27 Professional, the next generation of professional rescue R.I.Bs

Design
Built to work-boat standards the 27ft C-RIB has been developed as an all-weather rescue boat to fulfill multiple operational requirements in the Hjälmare area in Sweden. The RIB is primarily for Rescue missions but must also perform Police tasks, Fire fighting duties and also be at the disposal of the Ambulance services in the Nerikes area. Previous boats of this size, used professionally, have been inadequate in many ways, particularly by not catering enough for crew protection and for today’s technical requirements. The C-RIB 27 objective is to set a new benchmark for professional fast-response RIBs.

The C-RIB 27 is based on Stockholm RIB Center’s operationally proven 8m Offshore hull and features a number of new design solutions.

Features
The craft features a new foul-weather Bimini-Top and wrap-around Patrol console to give extra protection for the crew when operating in unfavourable conditions. The craft is also fitted with a Webasto Heater that blows hot air not only onto the windscreen, ensuring clear sight, but also onto the crew’s knees and legs.

C-RIB 27 Professional, the next generation of professional rescue R.I.Bs Four separate communication systems; VHF, Rakel, S-70 and GSM, are successfully integrated in a custom-built intercom, connecting wirelessly to four weather-resistant headsets. This allows the crew to move around and beyond the confines of the boat without any restrictions. These headsets are kept and re-charged on-board on a purpose-built rack saving valuable time during a quick response and thereby eliminating human error. The Navigation equipment has been ergonomically optimized and includes; Satellite GPS Plotter, HD Radar, Depth Sounder/Log, AIS Transponder, and a Night Vision Thermal Camera. Several electronic devices have been blacked out to reduce glare at night.

C-RIB 27 Professional, the next generation of professional rescue R.I.Bs The rear “G-SHOCK” Jockey Seats have removable backrests allowing a crew member to stay securely seated at speed whilst seeing to an injured person on a stretcher at the rear of the craft. Heavy Duty fendering allows for coming alongside other vessels without the need for additional fendering. There are robust towing posts and an engine protection bar to keep towing lines above the engines.

The boat is virtually unsinkable and two large scuppers allow any seawater on deck to quickly drain whilst underway in just a few minutes.

Peder Brun of Stockholm RIB Center announces; “After a long evaluation of different boats the client settled on our 27ft hull for its rough sea priorities, the hull gives an exceptional soft and dry ride. Together we set out to develop the best working environment possible on an open 8m boat, something that has been missing from the market...Naturally we are very proud of the design solutions with regard to strength, detailing and user-practicality and are delighted in the knowledge that the boat will be a very valuable tool for many years to come”.

C-RIB 27 Professional, the next generation of professional rescue R.I.Bs The boat is powered by twin Suzuki 175hp 4 stroke outboards, which have been chosen for their reliability, low emissions, manoeuvurability and excellent power-to-weight ratio. Initial sea trials have seen the 2-ton boat with 2 crew and full fuel reach speeds in excess of 50 knots and with an excellent 37 knots with just one engine running. The boat falls within the trailering restriction of 3000kg fully equipped and with full fuel, on a purpose built trailer from TK Trailers in Boxholm, Sweden.

A leisure version will be introduced shortly.

EU Vibration Directive Reminder

Thursday, September 8, 2011

Effective from July 2010 all equipment used commerically needs to comply with EU Vibration Directive. This directive was established to protect users from the effects of vibration and shock injury. It sets out regulations for the control of health and safety risks from the exposure of workers to ’hand arm’ & ’whole body’ vibration in the workplace. About our new cabin C-RIB

Sunday, February 21, 2010

The spacious cabin is accessed through a vertically sliding door. Forward, there is generous curved comfortable seating with a central table. The seating doubles as two full size single berths or as one substantial double berth. There is an optional heating system and on warm days there is a large retractable sunroof. There is also sufficient room to house a toilet, sink and stove.

At the heart of the action is the hull, which gives one of the safest, softest, fastest and driest rides, offering comfortable 40 knot cruising, bad weather safety, and low maintenance. A new ultra-deep V shaped hull, having been jointly developed with a leading commercial rib operator, achieves this.

Power comes from either a single or twin diesel inboard installation or two large outboard engines.
